Resident Evil Requiem has an impressive 70% completion rate on Steam, 67% on PlayStation

Those are some seriously high completion rate numbers!

It has been over a month since the game’s launch, and now, Resident Evil Requiem has a completion rate of 70% on Steam and 67% on PS5 (technically 66.9%) at the time of writing.

While this has become common knowledge among some gamers, completion rate numbers may come as a surprise to some. Almost no big triple-A game gets near an 80% completion rate, with anything over 50% already being high for shorter, more linear titles. Meanwhile, anything over 40% is already a great result for a big open-world game.

For instance, we reported years ago that The Last of Us Part II had an impressive 58% completion rate months after its release. Meanwhile, Ghost of Tsushima had a 50% rate around half a year after its launch. These figures are based on the percentage of players who have unlocked the main story completion trophy for both titles.

Given that Resident Evil Requiem is a fairly linear experience, not to mention that it takes under 20 hours to complete on average, we expected it to have a pretty high completion rate. Upon checking, it turns out that the number was even higher than we expected.

On Steam, 70% of players have gotten the “Rookie Agent” achievement, which is unlocked after beating the game on at least the Casual difficulty setting. Players who complete the game on the harder difficulties will also unlock this achievement, meaning everyone who completes the game’s story will get it.

The percentage differs slightly in the Global Achievements on the Store page and on the Steam Account page, but both numbers indicate that 70% of players have completed the game.

As we’ve mentioned, a 50% or above completion percentage for a more linear triple-A game is already a good result. The fact that Requiem reached a 70% completion rate based on achievements is no doubt an impressive result. Even if you count only those who completed the game on the Standard (Modern) difficulty, the corresponding achievement was still unlocked by 63.7% of players.

While you can argue that the game being on the shorter side helped it a lot, it’s still quite a surprise given that it’s a horror game. After all, another recent horror game, Silent Hill f, only has a 42.7% completion rate on Steam based on the “Thankful to Be Here” achievement (note that there’s no achievement for clearing the game on the “Casual” difficulty, which was added post-launch).

As for PlayStation, the 66.9% of players have earned the “Rookie Agent” trophy. While a bit lower than the Steam numbers, this is still a great result overall.

Of course, these numbers aren’t 100% accurate, but they should still be an overall accurate indicator of the percentage of players who have completed the game.

On Capcom’s official Resident Evil Requiem stats website, there’s data on the number of times the game has been played and cleared. This isn’t exactly a completion rate, though, as the number of times played and cleared isn’t based on unique players, meaning they count replays by the same player.

As for the other Resident Evil games, it’s hard to compare their completion rates, as some of the previous titles only give achievements to players who have beaten the games on Normal difficulty.

Resident Evil Requiem is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
