With the anime’s premiere just two months away, Science SARU shared a new trailer for The Ghost in the Shell, giving us more clips of the Major and revealing its July 7 release date.
While the previous trailer already showed a lot of footage, this new trailer for The Ghost in the Shell might be even more striking for fans of the franchise. After all, it features plenty of clips of Major Motoko Kusanagi. Unlike the Major’s other anime appearances, though, in this new anime, she looks much more expressive and animated, which is closer to her depiction in the original manga by Masamune Shirow.

Based on the show’s trailers, this new adaptation should delight fans of Shirow’s original manga. For fans of Ghost in the Shell who are more familiar with the Mamoru Oshii 1995 film or the Production IG Standalone Complex series, this direction may come as a shock.
From the looks of it, this show may not be for everyone, given the decidedly old-school style (and potential fan-service, which was a signature of the original manga). Even though this might become a divisive show, we’re definitely excited for this series, though a big part of that is because we’re big fans of the studio’s projects.
The Ghost in the Shell by Science SARU will premiere on July 7, 2026. It will be streamed in most of the world on Prime Video.
